H30 Series Adapter Sleeves

H30 Series adapter sleeves are bearing mounting components used to locate bearings with 1:12 tapered bores on cylindrical shaft seats. The slotted sleeve works with a matching lock nut and locking device to secure the bearing axially and establish the required interference fit between the bearing, sleeve, and shaft.
Adapter sleeves can be used on plain shafts and are also suitable for stepped-shaft arrangements where the bearing requires positive axial positioning. Selection should be based on the complete bearing arrangement, including the bearing designation, shaft diameter, sleeve dimensions, and locking components. 

The H30 sleeve has an axial slit and an external 1:12 taper. Tightening the lock nut moves the bearing along the tapered sleeve surface and generates the required interference fit.

A standard arrangement consists of:

• Slotted adapter sleeve
• Matching lock nut
• Locking washer or locking clip

The lock nut and locking device must correspond to the selected sleeve and bearing arrangement. They should not be selected independently from the sleeve designation.

H30 Series adapter sleeves are intended for bearings with a matching 1:12 tapered bore. Typical bearing types include:

• Self-aligning ball bearings
• Spherical roller bearings
• CARB toroidal roller bearings

Compatibility depends on the bearing series, bore size, width, shaft diameter, and sleeve dimensions. The complete bearing and sleeve designation should therefore be checked before ordering. 

Individual H30 dimensions, including sleeve length, outside diameters, thread dimensions, and matching locking components, vary by size. The exact dimensional drawing should be used for final selection. 

The shaft seat must match the dimensional and geometrical requirements of the selected bearing arrangement. A typical shaft tolerance for adapter-sleeve mounting is h9, with the applicable radial runout controlled to the specified tolerance.
Before mounting, the shaft seating surface should be clean and free from burrs, scoring, corrosion, and other damage that could interfere with proper sleeve seating. 

Mechanical Mounting
Small and medium-size H30 sleeves can normally be mounted mechanically by tightening the matching lock nut. The bearing is driven axially onto the tapered sleeve until the specified mounting condition is reached.
The required drive-up distance, internal clearance reduction, or tightening condition depends on the bearing type and size. A single torque or drive-up value should not be applied to every H30 sleeve.
Oil-Injection Mounting
Applicable large-size adapter sleeves can incorporate oil supply ducts and distributor grooves for hydraulic mounting. Pressurized oil reduces the force required to establish the interference fit and can facilitate mounting and dismounting of large bearing arrangements.
Oil-injection capability is a feature of specific sleeve designs or variants and should be confirmed for the required H30 size before ordering. 

The original specification identifies C45 or an equivalent carbon steel grade for the sleeve. The exact material grade should be confirmed against the applicable production specification for the requested size.
The sleeve should have clean machined surfaces with the axial slit free from burrs, visible cracking, and mechanical damage. Where corrosion protection is required for storage or transportation, an appropriate preservative treatment can be specified according to the supply requirement. 

Key inspection points for H30 adapter sleeves include:

• Sleeve bore and principal dimensions
• External taper geometry
• Thread dimensions and fit
• Radial runout and specified geometrical tolerances
• Lock nut and locking-device compatibility
• Surface condition and axial slit quality

For orders requiring inspection documentation, the applicable dimensional tolerances, material requirements, and documentation should be specified with the purchase order.

H30 adapter sleeves are used in bearing arrangements for rotating industrial equipment, including:
